I was just like you, frustrated by the lack of information out there.
I searched everywhere I could from the library to the chat rooms of America Online, and I couldn’t find any of the answers to the many questions I had, from how to raise money for a show, to what a Broadway budget looked like and so many more. There was no information anywhere!
So, I spent the next ten years of my life working my way up on Broadway as a Production Assistant, Stage Manager, Agent, Company Manager, General Manager, and more in order to learn every aspect of this business, so I could figure out the fastest and most efficient way to get a show on or Off Broadway . . . and give it the best chance to succeed.
And I vowed that once I gained that knowledge, I’d share it with others, so they could use it to get help to pursue their Broadway and Off Broadway dreams.
That’s why I started my blog, TheProducersPerspective, which I’ve been writing for almost 10 years, and has been featured in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Forbes and more.
But the more I put out there about marketing, raising money, contracts, and such, the more people wanted!
It turns out, there weren’t a lot of people out there like me. There were a @#$% ton of people out there like me.
People who wanted to understand the business so they could apply it to their own shows, whether they were a Writer, an Actor, a Director or someone with an idea who wanted to see if it had legs. But more importantly, they didn’t want to spend ten years of their life in twenty different jobs like I did to figure it out.
Sound like someone you know? I thought so.
And so, after a year and a half of development, planning, and research, I’m proud to release the next step in learning the ins and outs of this unique industry, the ProducersPerspectivePro.
