Mission & History
The company’s first production was the Off-Broadway interactive show The Awesome 80s Prom, which ran for 10 years. It was followed by the Off-Broadway shows Altar Boyz (Outer Critics Circle Award, Best Musical) and My First Time, which has been seen in over 20 countries worldwide.
Since then, Broadway productions have included the Tony Award-winning Once On This Island, Gettin’ The Band Back Together, Deaf West’s Spring Awakening, It’s Only a Play, Macbeth with Alan Cumming, Kinky Boots (Tony Award), Godspell, and The Play That Goes Wrong, among numerous others. Off-Broadway productions have included That Bachelorette Show and Daddy Long Legs.
Since its inception, Davenport Theatrical Enterprises has founded companies which include The TheaterMakers Studio, an online certification training program; The Streaming Stage Company, a virtual production company focused on providing virtual live theatrical shows and events, DTE Management, a general management division for both Broadway and Off-Broadway (as of 2019, DTE Management has relaunched as Architect Theatrical); the group sales agency Your Broadway Genius Group Sales; Be A Broadway Star, the only Broadway-themed board game; Did He Like It?, the review aggregating website and smartphone app; and many more.
The Producer’s Perspective, Ken’s daily blog on Broadway producing, has been featured in Vanity Fair, New York Magazine, and more. Davenport Theatrical was included on the Inc. 5000 List in 2019 as one of the fastest growing companies in the US.
